Quotes on Strength

So which do you want to hear first? The good news or the bad news? …The bad news? — most people choose that first. Alrighty then, let’s get the bad news out of the way!

The bad news is…

The characteristic of strength is one we typically discover during times of adversity, pain or suffering. I was once told, “Oh Fiona, I don’t know how you do it, you’re so strong and courageous.” My response in that moment, “I wish I didn’t know how strong I was. I wish I didn’t have to be courageous. It’s only because I have so much to contend with that I’m discovering my strength and I wish that weren’t the case.”

The good news is…

The characteristic of strength is one we typically discover it during times of adversity, pain or suffering. And during those times, when we discover our strength, a deeper sense of self is developed; self-trust, self-love, self-empowerment. It is only through these times that we must demonstrate our strength that we see the “stuff” we’re really made of. And it is after these times that we can remember just how strong we are and know in any situation or any circumstance, we will be “ok” because we have the strength.

We can be sure that there will inevitably be difficult times in life when we have to turn to the strength within so knowing it is there can be assuring.
